Nassau Stakes Tips, Odds & Racecard 2026: Diamond Necklace hot favourite for Group 1 on Thursday

Group 1 action takes place on Thursday afternoon in the shape of the Nassau Stakes, which is open to fillies and mares. A disappointing field of five will line up for the 1m 1f 197y contest, but there’s a superstar filly in the shape of Diamond Necklace lining up for Aidan O’Brien.

Steve Chambers previews Thursday’s feature race and picks out his 1-2-3 for the contest.

Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore have teamed up to win the last two renewals of the Nassau Stakes, with Opera Singer and Whirl prevailing. Now, the Ballydoyle pairing will unleash the unbeaten Diamond Necklace in the 2026 renewal. Unbeaten as a juvenile, she’s been plying her trade in France and has been dominant. A fine winner of the French 1000 Guineas, she then followed that up with a neck success in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly. Making her British debut, she’s shown to be a class above her three-year-old rivals and will take on some smarter older horses here.

John & Thady Gosden’s Friendly Soul is another that has Group 1 winning form in Europe having won the Prix de l’Opera. However, she could only finish third in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, and needs to bounce back. See The Fire has won two Middleton Stakes at York, but Andrew Balding’s charge has often struggled away from the Knavesmire. Sixth in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, she will be looking to improve on that Group 1 effort here.

A Group 3 winner on the all-weather at Newcastle, Botagoz steps up in class here, but is a filly on the rise. She is another that will receive the three-year-old allowance, but has to improve immeasurably. Moments Of Joy completes the quintet, but will be the pacemaker for Diamond Necklace.

2026 Nassau Stakes Tips

Dominant in her division this season, Diamond Necklace can dominate once again in the Nassau Stakes. A real classy filly, she has very little to beat in this contest and with Friendly Soul and See The Fire often struggling then the Ballydoyle raider can storm to victory. See The Fire has shown quality at her best, so she can chase home Diamond Necklace, with the progressive Botagoz grabbing third.
