18:19 – Harry Potter Droneart Show Handicap

Race Details: 1m 4f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat

This is a typical low-grade Newcastle staying handicap: plenty with exposed profiles, a few three-year-olds trying to find a way through, and one obvious potential improver in Niffler. Sir Mark Prescott’s runner has been weak enough in the market all season but this step into handicaps over 1m4f is exactly the sort of move that usually brings his horses to life. The obvious solid one is Jedhi Knight, who keeps running his race and comes here on the back of another good placed effort. Forever Perfect, Muhib and Fleur De Mer all have bits of form that put them in the argument too, but they look a shade more exposed. Tricky from an each-way angle, but the shape of the race suggests the unexposed three-year-olds could hold the key.

Top Selections

1. Niffler – 5/2 with Betfair

Jockey: Luke Morris | Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott Bt | Form: 890 | Rating: 55 | Topspeed: 42

You do not need to be overly clever with some Prescott handicappers, and this one fits the familiar pattern. Niffler has shown very little in three qualifying runs, but he now goes handicapping off 55, steps up to 1m4f and lands in a modest Class 6. That combination is enough to make him the one they all have to beat. Luke Morris is an eye-catching booking for this sort of assignment and, while a price around 5/2 is no giveaway in a 14-runner race, it still makes sense if this gelding has been brought along with handicaps in mind. He is the most likely improver in the field and hard to oppose. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Jedhi Knight – 4/1 with Bet365

Jockey: David Nolan | Trainer: Paul Midgley | Form: 23-523 | Rating: 63 | Topspeed: 53

Jedhi Knight is the percentage call for those wanting something solid alongside the favourite. He has been admirably consistent in this grade, his figures of 23-523 reading well in the context of a race where plenty arrive with questions to answer. A mark of 63 looks workable rather than lenient, but his Topspeed figure of 53 is one of the better numbers on offer and he should be suited by this test. The slight concern is that he has become expensive to follow, but in a race full of unreliable types he brings a level of dependability that others simply do not. At 4/1, he looks the sensible each-way punt. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Niffler is the win play because this looks a very obvious handicap setup for a Prescott three-year-old over a more suitable trip. Jedhi Knight is the each-way alternative on the strength of his consistency and proven level in this grade. The main dangers are Forever Perfect from stall 1 and the reliable Muhib, while Fleur De Mer is another with place claims if things fall right.

18:54 – Trusted Betting Site Reviews Gambling.com Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes (Bands B/C/D) (GBB)

Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat

This looks a fairly ordinary restricted novice on paper, but there is at least one filly with the profile to rise above the grade. Queen’s Hame sets the standard after a smooth move forward from debut to score on her second start, and a mark of 89 gives her a clear edge on what we know so far. Star Of Commala is the obvious danger after getting off the mark last time and she looks the one most likely to make the favourite work. Behind those two, it starts to thin out quickly, although Navertity and Roccapina have bits of form that could put them in the frame. In truth, this feels less like a deep race and more like a question of whether the market leaders are as solid as they look.

Top Selections

1. Queen’s Hame

Jockey: Cieren Fallon | Trainer: William Haggas | Form: 21 | Rating: 89 | Topspeed:

William Haggas does not need much encouragement in races of this type and Queen’s Hame looks the class act in the line-up. She improved exactly as you’d want from her debut second to win next time, and that official mark of 89 towers over most of these. Drawn in stall 2, she should get a good stalking trip over this 7f on Tapeta, while Cieren Fallon is a very solid booking for a filly who looks straightforward. This is not a race packed with depth and, unless one of the less exposed types takes a giant leap, she is hard to oppose. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Navertity – 8/1 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Jason Hart | Trainer: Stephen Hanlon | Form: 4 | Rating: 55 | Topspeed: 41

If you want to play against the obvious exacta, Navertity makes more each-way appeal than some of the bigger names in the market. She was fourth on debut and, while that form does not scream star quality, she at least showed enough to suggest there is a race in her at this level. Jason Hart is a positive booking around Newcastle and stall 4 gives her options if she breaks cleanly. At 8/1 with Paddy Power, she looks the sort who could step forward from first to second run and nick a place without needing dramatic improvement. She is not the likeliest winner, but she is a sensible each-way punt in a race lacking depth. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Queen’s Hame is the straight win play and looks the one they all have to beat on bare form and potential. For an each-way angle, Navertity appeals at the prices in a race where several rivals have shown very little. Star Of Commala is the clear danger to the favourite and is the one to fear most if the market leader underperforms.

19:24 – Compare Betting Sites At gambling.com Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Race Details: 7f | Class 3 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat

This doesn’t look the deepest novice of the summer and, bluntly, Spirited Gesture has the profile of a filly who could make a bit of a mockery of these. The Gosden-trained winner is already rated 89 after making a successful start and that sets a clear standard in a field where several rivals are either newcomers or have shown only modest form. Angel In My Heart at least arrives off a win and is the obvious one to chase the favourite home, while market support for debutantes like Rubyroo or Ortanique would be interesting in a race lacking depth behind the jolly. Still, if Spirited Gesture handles Newcastle’s Tapeta, this looks far more straightforward than tricky.

Top Selections

1. Spirited Gesture – 1/5 with Bet365

Jockey: Robert Havlin | Trainer: John & Thady Gosden | Form: 1 | Rating: 89 | Topspeed:

A winning debut and an opening mark of 89 tell you plenty here. That is a very healthy figure for a 2yo filly in this company and, with the Gosden yard placing these types sensibly, she looks to have been found an excellent opening. Robert Havlin keeps the ride and this extra furlong should hold no fears if she settled and finished her race properly first time out. At 1/5 she is no betting revelation, but favourites can still be the right answer and she has the standout form by some margin. Unless one of the newcomers is well above average, she is hard to oppose. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Rubyroo – 17/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Jason Hart | Trainer: Hugo Palmer | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:

For an each-way angle in an eight-runner race, Rubyroo makes more appeal than latching onto exposed fillies at shorter prices. She is a newcomer, so there is an obvious leap of faith involved, but the Hugo Palmer-Jason Hart combination is more than capable of readying one to go well first time and the market has her prominent enough to suggest this is no speculative entry. With several of these already looking limited, a debutante with a bit of latent ability can easily hit the frame, and 17/2 looks fair for that scenario. She doesn’t need to beat the favourite to make the bet work. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Spirited Gesture is the win play and the most likely winner by some way, even if the price is skinny. For those wanting something with a bit more juice, Rubyroo is the each-way punt in a race where plenty of the opposition look ordinary. Angel In My Heart is the obvious danger after her recent win, but she may be playing for places if the favourite is as good as she looks.

19:54 – Harry Potter Droneart Show Nursery Handicap

Race Details: 5f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat

This looks a tight little six-runner nursery rather than a race packed with hidden depth, and the market has understandably latched on to the unexposed Influencer Man after he got off the mark last time. He’s the obvious one, but not necessarily a gimme in a field where several arrive with workable marks and similar ratings. Casino Star has been knocking on the door, Star People is another with solid handicap potential off 85, while This Moment has the profile of one who keeps giving a run for your money without quite getting his head in front. Over a sharp 5f on Tapeta, early position and professionalism will count for plenty, so this feels more like a race to play with a strong view on value than one to steam into blindly.

Top Selections

1. Influencer Man – 2/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin McSweeney | Trainer: Adrian Paul Keatley | Form: 421 | Rating: 82 | Topspeed:

He’s the one coming here with the most obvious momentum. The form figures are neat, the latest win suggests he’s learning quickly, and for a two-year-old in a sprint nursery that upward curve matters. A mark of 82 looks fair enough rather than punitive, especially as he still has the scope to sharpen up again with racing. Oisin McSweeney is a capable rider in these sharp, tactical sprints and stall 5 should give him options rather than leave him boxed in. At 2/1 he’s no giveaway, but he does look the likeliest winner if building on that breakthrough success. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Casino Star – 7/2 with William Hill

Jockey: Jack Nicholls | Trainer: K R Burke | Form: 2623 | Rating: 82 | Topspeed:

There’s a lot to like about Casino Star as the each-way angle in a race where consistency may be rewarded. He’s been thereabouts more than once, the 2623 form line reads well enough for this grade, and crucially he’s off the same mark as the favourite while carrying less weight. That makes him very interesting in a small field where one clean break can decide everything. Karl Burke’s juveniles are rarely in the wrong races, and this one looks solid rather than flashy. Available at 7/2, he makes plenty of appeal for an each-way punt, especially if the market remains centred on the obvious favourite.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Influencer Man is the win bet because he’s the progressive one and may simply be ahead of the assessor. For an each-way play, Casino Star looks the sensible alternative given his consistency and identical rating to the favourite. Star People is the obvious danger if taking another step forward, while This Moment is respected but may again find one too good.

The NorthInfluencer Man

20:24 – Knox Hydrate Handicap

Race Details: 5f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat

This is a proper Newcastle sprint handicap: plenty of pace on paper, loads with chances, and not much room for error over a sharp 5f. Little Mi Mi arrives seeking a hat-trick and is the obvious one to start with after back-to-back wins, while Azuinthejungle is another thriving sprinter climbing the ranks after a three-timer. Lethal Nymph has been knocking on the door in stronger races than this and looks sure to be involved if things fall right from stall 11. Lower down the weights, Too Much is interesting from the inside after getting back on the scoresheet. It’s a competitive Class 4 rather than a deep one, and I’d be siding with the runners bringing current momentum rather than those hoping to bounce back.

Top Selections

1. Little Mi Mi – 9/2 with William Hill

Jockey: Jack Nicholls | Trainer: Iain Jardine | Form: 210411 | Rating: 84 | Topspeed: 64

Little Mi Mi is very easy to warm to here. She comes into the race on the back of two wins from her last three starts, and that recent 210411 sequence suggests a mare who is holding her form extremely well rather than fluking one result. Drawn in 3, she should get a handy position in a race where track position will matter, and she doesn’t look badly treated despite the rise in the weights. At 9/2 she makes plenty of appeal against rivals who are either higher in the handicap or not arriving in the same nick. She looks the solid one in a tricky sprint. Bet: WIN

2. Lethal Nymph – 5/1 with Betfair

Jockey: David Nolan | Trainer: Paul Midgley | Form: 048528 | Rating: 86 | Topspeed:

Lethal Nymph hasn’t been getting his head in front, but I’d argue he’s been running well enough to make him a very fair each-way proposition in this sort of contest. His mark of 86 is workable, and the recent 528 figures in his form show he’s been staying competitive without quite getting the breaks. Paul Midgley’s sprinters are always worth respecting in races like this, and David Nolan is a good booking for a horse who will need things delivered at the right time from stall 11. The 5/1 isn’t massive in a 13-runner race, but with four places on offer he still appeals as a sensible each-way play. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Little Mi Mi is the win bet because she’s the in-form runner with a good draw and the least guesswork around her profile. Lethal Nymph is the each-way option, bringing solid handicap form and the look of a horse who should hit the frame if the race sets up for him. Azuinthejungle is the obvious danger after that hat-trick, while Too Much could outrun his price from stall 1.

20:54 – Mini Golf At High Gosforth Park Handicap

Race Details: 6f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat

This looks a typically messy late-evening Newcastle sprint, the sort where a solid draw, a bit of tactical speed and current wellbeing count for plenty. Operation Gimcrack and Get Up Everybody bring the most convincing recent handicap form to the table, while Gemini Star is entitled to come on again after a good reappearance second. There are dangers lurking lower down too, with White Umbrella arriving off a win from stall 1 and Desert Master looking potentially well treated at the weights if things drop right. Plenty of these are exposed and inconsistent, which is why it feels more like a puzzle than a strong race, but that also means there should be value if siding with the right recent form line rather than old reputation.

Top Selections

1. Get Up Everybody – 5/1 with Bet365

Jockey: David Nolan | Trainer: Paul Midgley | Form: 347533 | Rating: 70 | Topspeed:

He’s not hiding much from the handicapper, but he is running well often enough to make plenty of appeal in a race full of unreliable types. Those last three runs, all solid placed efforts, suggest he’s knocking on the door, and a mark of 70 looks workable if he gets the strong pace this race should provide. Midgley’s sprinters are usually straightforward to read when they’re in form, and this one fits that bill better than most. David Nolan is a sensible booking for a race that may be decided by track position rather than brilliance. At 5/1, he makes plenty of appeal as the percentage call. Bet: WIN

2. Desert Master – 12/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Alex Jary | Trainer: Antony Brittain | Form: 624743 | Rating: 69 | Topspeed: 55

There’s a fair bit to like about Desert Master as an each-way play, not least that low weight of 121 and a recent sequence that says he’s holding his form. He hasn’t won for a while, but that latest third was perfectly respectable in the context of this grade and he’s the type to pick up pieces if they go too hard up front. Antony Brittain has a couple in here, and this one may just offer the better value of the pair at 12/1. He doesn’t need to improve dramatically to get involved, merely reproduce his usual level, and in a race like this that can be enough to hit the frame. Bet: EACH-WAY

Danger: Operation Gimcrack is an obvious threat after a solid second and is drawn to get involved from the outset.

Betting Strategy

Keep it fairly simple in a race where plenty have holes in their profile. Get Up Everybody is the win play on the strength of his recent consistency, while Desert Master looks the sensible each-way punt at double-figure odds with four places on offer. Operation Gimcrack and Gemini Star are the two to fear most if the market principals run to form.
