An action-packed day of racing takes place on Thursday 9th July, with six races coming live on ITV Racing. It’s day one of Newmarket’s July Festival, whilst Doncaster also host a quality flat card.

Newmarket Racing Tips (Thursday 9th July 2026)
It’s a 1.50pm start at Newmarket, with the Bahrain Trophy kicking off the action. The Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes is the feature race of the day at 3.35pm.
1.50 Newmarket – Del Maro (1pt win – 15/8)
Runner-up in the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood, Del Maro then had to settle for second place again in the Group 2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Edged out in a tight finish by Limestone, the Charlie Appleby-trained raider is looking to go one better on Thursday and can land victory in the Bahrain Trophy at 1.50pm. A proven stayer, he’s shown improvement as the season has gone on, and he can prove to be too good for his rivals here. Point Of Law, Galiyan and Alderman are three notable rivals, but Del Maro has the potential to throw his name into the St Leger picture.
3.00 Newmarket – Man Of Vision (1pt win – 9/1)
Well behind the likes of Thunder Call and Red Spells Danger at York on his last outing, Man Of Vision will attempt to reverse that form in a competitive 3.00pm contest. Another leading contender for the Appleby yard on Thursday, Man Of Vision found himself on the wrong side of the track during that race on the Knavesmire, so was always up against it. He remains on the same mark of 90 for this event, and if he can show the same level of form that saw him finish second at Newmarket off 87 at the beginning of May then he could well get his head in front here.
3.35 Newmarket – Rebel’s Romance (1pt win – 11/10)
A good day can get even better for the deadly duo of Messrs Appleby and Buick as Rebel’s Romance can outclass his rivals in the Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes. The globetrotting eight-year-old has racked up a sensational CV in recent times, mopping up a number of valuable races in recent seasons. A former Hardwicke Stakes and Goodwood Cup winner on British soil, the legendary Godolphin raider can down the likes of Convergent and Almeric to add another notable success to his record.
Doncaster Racing Tips (Thursday 9th July 2026)
Seven races take place at Doncaster, with two of them taking place in front of the live ITV Racing cameras. The GG Lucky 15 is rounded off with a pick in the St Leger trial at 2.46pm.
2.45 Doncaster – Hatteen (1pt win – 4/1)
Andrew Balding’s Hatteen chased home Point Of Law in a strong maiden at Newbury last month. With the winner that day contesting the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket earlier in the afternoon then there will be some early form signals before the Lope De Vega colt runs in the 2.45pm at Doncaster. Still winless after four runs, he will need to continue on an upward curve to land any sort of blow in this event, but he’s potentially one that will relish the step up in distance. Joseph O’Brien’s Count Bezukhov heads the betting, at the time of writing, and looks potentially smart, but Hatteen is one that could shape into a nic stayer in time.
