Nottingham Racing Tips (Tuesday 19 May 2026)
Six races take place at Nottingham on Tuesday, with the action kicking off at 2.20pm. Check out Steve’s brace of picks for the day here…
3.20 Nottingham – Sports Day (1pt win – 11/4)
Michael Bell’s Sports Day has been knocking on the door of late, since switching to handicaps. Winless in his five starts, he has finished creditable third and second places in his last two outings at Yarmouth, and he can finally get his head in front in the 3.20pm at Nottingham. Given a 1lb rise for his runner-up spot last month, he’s one that could continue to improve and a mark of 64 looks workable. Several of his rivals line up out of form, so the potentially progressive Bell charge can find enough to land the prize.
3.50 Nottingham – Chapter (1pt win – 10/1)
A winner at Salisbury two starts ago in class 5 company, Chapter failed to follow up at class 3 level when third in a four-horse race at Doncaster. He’s since been dropped 1lb by the handicapper and will tackle a class 4 in a hugely competitive 3.50pm event. He was gelded over the winter and is looking to bounce back to winning ways here on his first start of the campaign. He will need to emulate that Salisbury run to figure in the finish here, but the Charles Hills-trained raider is certainly to open to improvement and off 74 looks capable of playing a starring role at the finish.
Newcastle Racing Tips (Tuesday 19 May 2026)
A seven race card takes place on the all-weather at Newcastle. Steve has a brace of selections for the action at the north east track.
4.35 Newcastle – Golden Havana (1pt win – 7/2)
A winner over course and distance back in December, Golden Havana is looking for a second Newcastle win on Tuesday. The Michael Dods-trained raider lines up in the 4.35pm off a 3lbs higher mark than that victory, but 63 still looks within his capabilities. He returned after a break with a decent fourth placed finish at Newcastle, but should certainly come on for that run here. Connections have opted for the visor over blinkers for this contest, so if that can bring on the improvement then the son of Havana Gold certainly looks the one to beat.
5.05 Newcastle – Concert (1pt win – 8/1)
Rated in the high 70s for William Haggas, Concert has found life tough in recent times. Now with Jack Channon, the daughter of Showcasing could bounce back to form with victory in the 5.05pm at Newcastle. She was unable to figure at Bath last time out, but the quicker ground that day could’ve caught her out. Prior to that she was fourth at Wolverhampton on the all-weather, so a return to that surface should help. Dropped 2lbs by the handicapper, she takes her chance off 70 here, so she has a prime opportunity to record a second career win.
