Wednesday’s cards occur the day before the Grand National meeting begins at Aintree. Though none hold the prestige of the cards at Liverpool, there is competitive racing in its own right throughout the day.
Andrew Mount has two best bets for the midweek action. Both run at Nottingham during the afternoon.
Grosvenor have a fabulous welcome offer for horse racing punters as they are offering Double The Odds to a maximum £10 stake.
Nottingham Racing Tips (Wednesday 8 April 2026)
Nottingham hosts an eight-race card on Wednesday, with Andrew’s selections running in the opening and penultimate races.
1.17 Nottingham – Bay Royale (1pt e/w – 12/1 bet365, 10/1 generally)
Harry Eustace has started the season well and his Bay Royale looks interesting in this 1m2f “confined” novice stakes. As his name suggests, the three-year-old colt is a son of New Bay, and he looks set to improve for his debut effort over the extended mile here last backend when finishing a 22-1 fourth of nine. He fared clear best of those to come from off the pace that day, receiving the comment “towards rear, headway over 2f out, challenging over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong” from the Racing Post whereas the trio who beat him were on the pace throughout (“led”, “prominent” and “pressed leader”). The promise of that run was backed up by a useful speed figure, and he looks a solid each-way play against odds-on favourite Infraad.
4.40 Nottingham – Del Corso (1pt win – 100/30 bet365, 11/4 generally)
The Ed Walker-trained Del Corso fared second best of the closers when fifth over course and distance in the same race as Bay Royale (see above) on his debut in late October and looks to have been campaigned with handicaps in mind since that promising effort, running sixth of 12 at Newcastle and again at Lingfield when a 16-1 shot. That latest effort was especially encouraging as he was drawn out wide and again ridden patiently when it paid to be handy, doing second best of those to come from the rear. The runner-up (5-2 stablemate Northern Empire), fourth home Level Look, fifth-placed Felix Gem and eighth-placed Lux Aeterna have all won since and he’s been gelded ahead of today’s handicap bow. His trainer is 2-2 with newly gelded handicap debutants already this year and it looks significant that he returns to Nottingham for this first handicap outing off what looks a very workable mark of 65.
