Nottingham & Thirsk Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Sunday 31 May

Andrew Mount focuses on the two Flat fixtures at Nottingham and Thirsk on Sunday 31 May, as he looks to land some Sunday Series winners. Looking to end the month in fine style, Andrew has four big-priced selections for a quality day’s racing.

Nottingham Racing Tips (Sunday 31 May 2026)

Nottingham’s seven-race card take place on Sunday, with a 2.20pm start. Andrew’s best bet at the meeting lines up in the 3.35pm event.

3.35 Nottingham – Sugar Hill Babe (1pt win – 10/1 generally)

Sugar Hill Babe caught the eye from a poor low draw at Musselburgh last time, finishing second from stall 2 of 8 (first four drawn 6, 2, 7 and 8). Sixth-placed Rosenpur gave that form a boost when successful at Chester next time and Lisa Williamson’s six-year-old will appreciate the return to Nottingham where his record reads 321 (1-3), with the runner-up effort by a neck and the third place when 250-1 for a maiden on her racecourse debut. The return to fillies’ company will also suit.

Thirsk Racing Tips (Sunday 31 May 2026)

Seven races begin at Thirsk at 3.45pm. Andrew has a 50/1 pick in the 4.45pm contest, along with a brace of picks in the 5.45pm.

4.45 Thirsk – King’s Call (0.5pt e/w – 50’/1 generally)

Seb Spencer’s King’s Call could only finish a 40-1 13th of 17 in the 5f Ascot handicap won by Far Above The Law on May 1st but he was poorly drawn in stall 4 (first four drawn 13, 10, 14 and 11) and the form has been advertised by other low-drawn runners, including sixth-placed El Buffalo (stall 2), a close second to Betsen at Chepstow next time, seventh-placed Another Abbot (stall 6), successful at Yarmouth earlier this week, tenth home Lethal Nymph (stall 5), an 80-1 fourth of 17 at York on his next outing, and 12th-placed Hockney (stall 9) who went on to win at Kempton. The four-year-old has yet to score for his current yard but stall1 5 could be useful today and he’s a huge price.

5.45 Thirsk – Toytomi (0.5pt e/w – 18/1 Paddy Power, 14/1 generally)

Toytomi had the worst of the draw in stall 1 of 10 when 15-2 for a 6f Class 3 handicap at Ascot last time, doing well to finish sixth behind well-drawn (stall 10) winner Bolo Neighs. Brosay, poorly drawn in stall 3, finished a creditable 33-1 sixth of 14 at Newbury next time when we were on each-way, while Betsen, ninth from stall 7, was a winner next time out. David O’Meara’s five-year-old is still to win since leaving France but he’s only had one run on turf since gelded and, after taking time to acclimatise to the UK, could have plenty more to offer this term.
