A quality National Hunt fixture takes place at Perth on Wednesday 22 April and our GG Lucky 15 focuses on the action north of the border. However, we also have a selection at Catterick to complete our four best bets for the day.
Perth Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 April 2026)
A whopping eight races take place at Perth on Wednesday, with a 1.40pm start. Check out our best bets for the day here.
2.10 Perth – Barlovento (1pt win – 2/1)
Olly Murphy’s Barlovento shaped like he could be a rapid improver when he landed a novices’ handicap chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day. He’s failed to kick on from that victory with defeats at Cheltenham and back at Kempton. He’s been dropped 1lb by the handicapper for that third place finish back in March at Kempton, so that is a huge positive. He was behind the classy pairing of Teddy Blue and Blueking D’Oroux in that contest and he shouldn’t come up against anything like that here. He’s had a nice break off the track, and if he can recapture his best form then has to be well fancied under champion jockey Sean Bowen.
3.40 Perth – Jigoro (1pt win – 7/2)
A winner at this meeting 12 months ago, Heltenham looks the one to beat in the 3.40pm contest at Perth. However, he’s 5lbs higher than last year’s winning mark and he could be vulnerable to the top-weighted Jigoro, who can strike gold for Gordon Elliott. Impressive when winning at Gowran Park two starts ago, he failed to follow up in a hot listed event at Fairyhouse on his last outing. He’s 9lbs higher than his last winning mark, so needs a career best, but this is easier than his last contest, so if he can bounce back then looks the one to side with.
4.10 Perth – Pitwood Road (1pt win – 5/2)
Pitwood Road struggled in listed company on his last start at Kelso, but the Nicky Richards-trained mare can relish the return to handicaps and claim victory in the 4.10pm contest. Prior to that listed event, she had won at Carlisle and was second at Newcastle. She’s now rated 9lbs higher than her last winning mark, so 114 is a big ask. However, she shaped like she was progressive in handicap company before that Kelso run and could well have enough improvement to get her head in front here.
Catterick Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 April 2026)
It’s a 1.52pm start at Catterick for their seven-race Flat card. We have a sole selection for the action at the Yorkshire track.
2.22 Catterick – Come On Over (1pt win – 9/2)
Winless in six career starts, David O’Meara’s Come On Over can finally break his duck and land victory in the 2.22pm at Catterick. His best performance on the track came off a mark of 71 at Haydock, when he was second. He’s now dropped back to that mark for Wednesday’s contest, so if producing his best he can go very close. He drops back to five furlongs here, which is interesting, as he’s shown a fair bit of pace and was caught near the line in the abovementioned second placed finish over near seven furlongs.
