Perth Racing Tips (Friday 24 April 2026)
Eight races make up the third and final day of Perth’s National Hunt bonanza. We pick out a brace of selections from the Scottish track.
2.05 Perth – Fever Dream (1pt win – 7/2)
Christian Williams appears to have the knack of unearthing quality staying handicap chasers and he could well have another progressive stayer in the shape of Fever Dream. The eight-year-old was last seen winning at Warwick over three miles, and he can build on that effort with victory in the Highland National at 2.05pm. Given an 8lbs rise for that five-and-a-half length victory, Fever Dream could be one that relishes the step up in trip for this event, and could be capable of going in again. Third in the Norfolk National over 3m 5f earlier in his career, this stamina test should play to his strengths, and he can down his rivals with aplomb on Friday.
3.20 Perth – Highland Fashion (1pt win – 12/1)
Highland Fashion appears to have enjoyed the step up to three miles and the Ian Duncan-trained raider can sparkle once again and land victory in the 3.20pm. A win at Newcastle was followed up by a second place at Ayr. However, he failed to land a blow at Musselburgh on his last outing. He can be forgiven for that run as he found himself way back that day. He runs off the same mark of 116 in this contest, and the 3m 2f 127y could really play to his strengths. Sure to be doing all his best work late on, Duncan’s charge can storm home to claim the honours.
Sandown Racing Tips (Friday 24 April 2026)
Sandown’s Flat Season Opener dominates the live ITV racing coverage on Friday. Some classy flat stars line up at the Esher venue and we fancy two of the stars of the day to sparkle bright.
3.00 Sandown – Field Of Gold (1pt win – 5/4)
A stunning winner of the Craven Stakes, Irish 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes last season, Field Of Gold somewhat disappointed in the second half of the season. Nevertheless, those below par runs in the Sussex Stakes and QEII Stakes can become a distant memory when he obliterates his rivals in the bet365 Mile at 3.00pm. John & Thady Gosden’s grey is a warm order for the event, and if he can replicate the early performances of last season then he should comfortably dispatch his rivals before a possible return to Royal Ascot in June.
3.35 Sandown – Action (1pt win – 6/4)
Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore teamed up for victory in the bet365 Classic Trial last season with Swagman and the Ballydoyle duo can reign once again with Action in the Group 3 contest at 3.35pm. A Galway maiden winner, he then went and finished third in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket. Last seen finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster, he’s one that could shape up into a lively Derby contender. This is certainly an easier task on Friday, and he should be able to serenely down his rivals before heading to bigger, tougher races later on in the campaign.
