17:30 – Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden (IRE Incentive Race)

Race Details: 7f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This looks a useful enough 2yo maiden for Roscommon, even if the market may simplify it around one obvious piece of form. Sea Of Rain has already set the standard after finishing fourth and then second, and a mark of 91 makes him the clear one to beat if reproducing that level over this 7f. Still, this isn’t completely straightforward in an 18-runner juvenile contest packed with unexposed types. Oristown Boy took a big step forward on his second start, Seaxburh shaped with promise for Joseph O’Brien, and Ballyskeagh and Jezzie Bea are newcomers from powerful yards who need respecting. In short, there is a solid favourite, but enough unknowns lurking to make this more than a procession.

Top Selections

1. Sea Of Rain – 6/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Declan McDonogh | Trainer: J S Bolger | Form: 42 | Rating: 91 | Topspeed: 54

He is the one with the standout form and, frankly, hard to oppose. A rating of 91 in this company is a serious figure for a juvenile maiden, and his form line of 4-2 suggests he is learning the job quickly. The step to 7f should hold no fears and the low draw in 3 looks perfectly workable in a big field. Bolger juveniles are often sharpened by racing, and Sea Of Rain has already shown more than most of these. At 6/4 he is no giveaway, but he sets the bar clearly and anything like another small step forward should be enough. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Oristown Boy – 7/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Siobhan Rutledge | Trainer: Joseph Anthony Murray | Form: 04 | Rating: 84 | Topspeed: 66

For an each-way angle, Oristown Boy makes plenty of appeal. He was well beaten on debut but improved sharply to finish fourth next time, and that run is backed up by a smart Topspeed figure of 66, which is one of the better pieces of substance on offer here. A rating of 84 says he is no back number either, and unlike plenty of these, he has already shown he can cope with race conditions and a proper gallop. At 7/1 he looks the value play against the favourite, especially with three places on offer in a field this deep. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Keep it simple: Sea Of Rain is the win play because his existing form is comfortably the strongest in the line-up. For those wanting a bit more juice, Oristown Boy is the each-way punt at 7/1 after a clear step forward last time. The obvious dangers are Seaxburh, who shaped nicely on debut, and Ballyskeagh, a well-fancied newcomer from a yard that knows the score with juveniles.

18:00 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden

Race Details: 7f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This looks a fairly informative maiden rather than a weak one, with a couple of solid established form contenders meeting one potentially smart newcomer to this level of experience. Star Of Beauty brings the best body of racecourse evidence after back-to-back seconds and sets the standard on a mark of 87, while Elusive Echo created a good impression when third on debut and is the obvious danger for Joseph O’Brien. Almeiyda also has the profile of one who can take another step forward for Dermot Weld, so the market leaders make plenty of appeal. Behind them, Bofa Beach and Moon Aura have bits of form that give them place squeaks, but a few of these need dramatic improvement. In truth, it looks more about class and progression than hidden depth.

Top Selections

1. Elusive Echo – 6/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Shane Foley | Trainer: Joseph Patrick O’Brien | Form: 3 | Rating: 80 | Topspeed: 44

There was enough in that debut third to think Elusive Echo may simply be better than maiden company in due course. She is not asked to improve much to win this, and with Joseph O’Brien training and Shane Foley booked, you can be pretty sure she will be educated forward from that first run. The slight concern is stall 14 over 7f, which is not ideal, but ability can outweigh draw issues in this grade and she has the profile of a filly with more to come than most. At 6/4 she is no giveaway, but she is the one I would want on my side. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Almeiyda – 4/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Chris Hayes | Trainer: D K Weld | Form: 04-4 | Rating: 80 | Topspeed: 68

Almeiyda appeals as the each-way alternative because she has already shown a decent level of ability and her latest fourth suggested she is moving back in the right direction after the break. Dermot Weld does not tilt at these races without reason, and Chris Hayes is a positive booking on a filly who should be suited by this 7f on good ground. Her topspeed figure of 68 is one of the more persuasive numbers in the field, and unlike some of these, she has at least backed up promise with more than one respectable effort. Available at 4/1, she looks a sensible each-way play if the favourite proves too strong. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Elusive Echo is the win play, as her debut promise suggests she may have the most upside in the race. Almeiyda makes more appeal than a few of the exposed place candidates for an each-way punt in a 14-runner field. The obvious danger is Star Of Beauty, whose recent seconds put her right in the mix, while Bofa Beach is not dismissed for minor honours.

18:30 – Jimmy Murray Agri Services Handicap

Race Details: 7f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This is a proper Roscommon handicap puzzle with 18 runners charging over 7f, and there are a few with solid enough recent claims without anything looking bombproof. Toy Soldier sets the standard on the figures after a close second last time and his topspeed mark of 58 is the best in the field, so it is easy to see why he heads the market. Methgal has been knocking on the door more than once this season and comes from stall 1, while Medieval Night arrives off an encouraging third and is another who looks weighted to be competitive. Selective Power is interesting at bigger odds after a better run latest, and old boy Brains keeps threatening to get involved. Competitive rather than classy, and the draw plus track position could be decisive.

Top Selections

1. Toy Soldier – 11/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle | Trainer: Maurice Andrew Ahern | Form: 0-0042 | Rating: 64 | Topspeed: 58

Toy Soldier looks the percentage call. He had been shaping as though a race like this was within range before confirming it with that recent second, and the handicapper has left him on a mark of 64. In a race where plenty have bits and pieces of form, he is the one bringing the clearest recent evidence that he is ready to strike. The topspeed figure of 58 is a notable positive in this field and Dylan Browne McMonagle is the sort you want in a big-field 7f scrap. At 11/4 he is no giveaway, but he is still the one they all have to beat. Bet: WIN

2. Selective Power – 10/1 with Betfair

Jockey: James Ryan | Trainer: Thomas Coyle | Form: 0-0494 | Rating: 67 | Topspeed: 57

Selective Power appeals as the each-way play because the market seems to have underestimated his latest run. He was fourth last time, which represented a definite step back in the right direction, and his topspeed figure of 57 says he still retains plenty of ability for this level. He has a bit more weight to carry than some of the obvious rivals, but this is a horse with enough back-class to be dangerous if building on that effort. James Ryan knows how to deliver one late in these handicaps and 10/1, especially with five places on offer, makes him the value angle in the race. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Toy Soldier is the straightforward win bet after that recent second and on the strength of the best topspeed figure in the line-up. For an each-way alternative, Selective Power makes plenty of appeal at double-figure odds with five places available. Methgal and Medieval Night are the obvious dangers, while Brains is another who could easily outrun his price if the race falls right.

19:00 – Conor Cassidy Car Sales Handicap

Race Details: 1m 2f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This looks a proper 3yo handicap rather than a throwaway summer contest, with several arriving off solid enough runs and not much between the principals on the figures. Nermal sets the standard on a mark of 85 and has been knocking loudly, while Adel comes here on the back of a win and has the profile of one still going the right way. Rapide Vega is another with obvious claims after shaping well in second last time, and Ella’s Gold is the unexposed filly at the foot of the weights who could yet have more to offer. It is competitive rather than impossible, but the market should be taking shape around the right horses. Getting the balance right between proven handicap form and potential improvement will decide it.

Top Selections

1. Nermal – 3/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Ben Coen | Trainer: Andrew Slattery | Form: 5223 | Rating: 85 | Topspeed: 59

Nermal is hardly hiding from the assessor, but he has been running like a winner waiting to happen. The recent sequence of 5-2-2-3 reads well in the context of this race and, crucially, he has been holding his level in handicaps rather than throwing in a bad one. A mark of 85 is demanding enough, yet not beyond him if this turns into a straightforward test at the trip. Ben Coen is a positive booking for a horse who should be ridden with confidence, and the 3/1 on offer looks fair rather than fancy. In a race with a few improvers, he is the one with the most convincing body of current form. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Rapide Vega – 11/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Shane Foley | Trainer: Mrs John Harrington | Form: 04-582 | Rating: 85 | Topspeed: 78

Rapide Vega makes plenty of each-way appeal after a much more encouraging effort when runner-up last time, and that Topspeed figure of 78 is the best in the field. That immediately catches the eye in a race where a few of these still have something to prove at 1m2f. Mrs John Harrington’s runners can take a step forward quickly once they find their rhythm, and Shane Foley is the right man to deliver her late if this develops into a properly run handicap. Off the same mark of 85, she does not look overburdened by the handicapper, and 11/2 is a workable price for a filly who has already shown enough to think she can hit the frame at the very least. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Nermal is the percentage call for the win bet, as he brings the strongest recent handicap profile and looks overdue. Rapide Vega is the each-way play, with that standout Topspeed figure giving her a very solid chance of making the three. Adel is the obvious danger after getting off the mark last time, while Ella’s Gold is the one at a lower weight who could outrun expectations.

19:30 – Sean Cleary Memorial Handicap

Race Details: 1m 2f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This looks a proper Roscommon handicap rather than a race full of obvious answers. Amplitude brings the most solid recent profile after a pair of placed efforts, while Vlhova returns from a break with a useful bit of 4yo form that gives her every chance if ready to roll. Sonoran has been threatening to do something similar without quite getting it done, and Sir Jeremy is another who can get involved if forgiven his latest effort. Lower down, Blackjack Hills is interesting after ending last season with back-to-back wins, but this is a deeper contest now. In truth, it feels more like a race where track position, a clean trip and timing the challenge right will matter just as much as raw ability. Tricky enough, but not impossible.

Top Selections

1. Amplitude – 3/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Sam Coen | Trainer: Joseph G Murphy | Form: -04933 | Rating: 82 | Topspeed: 59

Amplitude is the one I want on side because he arrives here in the best recent nick of those towards the head of the market. Those last two third-place finishes suggest he is sitting on a winning run, and an opening mark of 82 does not look beyond him in a race lacking an obvious well-handicapped blot. Joseph G Murphy’s runner has enough tactical pace for this sort of contest and Sam Coen should be able to keep him out of trouble from stall 7. At 3/1 he is not a giveaway, but he is the most solid option in a race where several of the others come with a question attached. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Vlhova – 11/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Shane Foley | Trainer: Gerard O’Leary | Form: 13422- | Rating: 83 | Topspeed: 69

Vlhova makes plenty of each-way appeal because her profile is a lot more convincing than the price suggests. She signed off last season with back-to-back seconds and her overall 4yo form reads well in the context of this race. A topspeed figure of 69 is one of the better numbers on offer here, and if she comes back in the same heart after her break, she has the class to be right in the argument. The wide draw in 12 is not ideal, but Shane Foley is more than capable of getting the fractions right. At 11/2, she looks the value alternative to the favourite and a very sensible each-way punt with four places on offer. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Amplitude is the straightforward win play because he has the most dependable recent form and looks ready to strike. Vlhova is the each-way option at a fairer price, especially with four places available. Sonoran is the obvious danger if building on his recent efforts, while Sir Jeremy is not one to dismiss lightly from a handy racing weight.

20:00 – Watch Racing TV Irish EBF Lenebane Stakes (Listed Race)

Race Details: 1m 4f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This looks a tidy little Listed race rather than a deep one, and the market has understandably latched onto Starford after his Royal Ascot run. He sets the standard on recent form, but he is short enough in a race where there are a couple of battle-hardened older horses ready to ask questions. Chally Chute arrives off a solid second and brings dependable staying form, while Bosphorus Rose has the profile of one who could still have a bit more to offer at this sort of trip. Shaool has the highest rating in the field but needs to leave two underwhelming efforts behind him. With only eight runners, tactical pace and track position could matter plenty, so this is competitive despite lacking numbers.

Top Selections

1. Starford – 6/5 with Bet365

Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle | Trainer: Joseph Patrick O’Brien | Form: 17-516 | Rating: 114 | Topspeed: 92

Starford is the obvious starting point and, unlike plenty of short-priced Listed runners, he has a recent piece of form that genuinely stands up. That sixth at Royal Ascot reads much better than it looks in isolation and came in a stronger race than this. His Leopardstown win before that showed he handles a proper test well, and this drop back into calmer waters makes plenty of appeal. Joseph O’Brien does well with these progressive middle-distance types, and Dylan Browne McMonagle is a positive booking. At 6/5 he is no giveaway, but he still looks the most likely winner if reproducing that last run. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Chally Chute – 4/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Donagh O’Connor | Trainer: Ross O’Sullivan | Form: /121-2 | Rating: 113 | Topspeed: 99

Chally Chute is the one I’d want onside each-way because he is tough, reliable and arrives here in form. His figures tell a straightforward story: when he gets his conditions, he runs his race, and that latest second was another creditable effort. An eight-year-old in this company is not the sexy angle, but he has a solid rating of 113 and the best topspeed number in the field, which gives him a very real chance of making the favourite work. Donagh O’Connor knows him well enough, and at 4/1 he makes much more appeal as a percentage play than some of the less exposed but shakier alternatives. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Starford is the win play because his Ascot form gives him the clearest edge in a race of this quality. Chally Chute is the sensible each-way option in an eight-runner field, as he looks very likely to give you a run for your money. Bosphorus Rose is the main danger if building on her reappearance, while Shaool is capable of better than he has shown lately.

20:30 – Ladies Day At Roscommon On Monday, 6th July, 2026 Maiden

Race Details: 1m 4f | | Going: GOOD (Selective watering) | | flat

This is a big-field maiden but not an especially deep one, which usually makes for a race where a couple of obvious profiles dominate the argument. Ashikita sets the standard on what little solid recent evidence we have, while Black Heather appeals as a lightly-raced one from a yard that places this type well. Steel Cut has shown enough to suggest he can win a race of this nature, and Taj Crown has at least been knocking on the door in similar company. After that, it gets murkier. Several arrive with modest ratings, exposed profiles or no recent form of note, so this looks more about who stays the trip best and who still has a bit of upside. Tricky enough in a 16-runner maiden, but not impossible to narrow down.

Top Selections

1. Ashikita – 2/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Ben Coen | Trainer: J P Murtagh | Form: 0/5 | Rating: 84 | Topspeed: 62

Ashikita looks the percentage call. The profile is hardly flashy, but that latest fifth was a fair step forward after a long absence and this does not look a daunting maiden for one from the Murtagh yard. An official mark of 84 gives her a clear edge over plenty of these, and the drop into a race where a good number have either achieved little or shown their hand already makes plenty of appeal. Ben Coen is an eye-catching booking and, at 2/1, she is short enough but not unbackable given the lack of depth behind her. If she builds on that comeback, she should take plenty of beating. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Black Heather – 4/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Robert Whearty | Trainer: Gavin Cromwell | Form: 3- | Rating: 87 | Topspeed:

Black Heather is the one I would want onside each-way because there is a bit more substance to that profile than first meets the eye. A sole run resulting in a third leaves plenty of room for improvement, and Gavin Cromwell is not a trainer to ignore in these staying maidens. The 87 rating is the highest in the field, which immediately puts this runner in the serious category, and stall 1 should allow Robert Whearty to secure an economical trip if things get tactical. At 4/1, the market clearly respects the chance, but in a 16-runner race with three places on offer, that still makes each-way sense rather than trying to get cute elsewhere. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Ashikita is the win play in a maiden lacking much depth, with her comeback run and higher standard of form making her hard to oppose. Black Heather is the sensible each-way punt from a good draw with more to come after just one start. The obvious dangers are Steel Cut, who has shown enough to be competitive, and Taj Crown, whose placed form gives him a definite shout.
