Southwell Racing Tips (Wednesday 1 April 2026)
It’s a 2.30pm start at Southwell, with the action taking place over the sticks. Andrew looks to fly out of the traps and has a selection in the opening race.
2.30 Southwell – Always Busy (1pt win – 11/2 888sport, 5/1 generally)
Christian Williams does well with his handicap chasers in the second half of the peak jumps season (January to April), scoring with 59 of the 277 qualifiers (prior to yesterday’s racing when one of his two such runners won) for a profit of £59.91 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 46.65, A/E = 1.26). Throw in the proviso that they must have travelled more then 125 miles to the track, and the record becomes 44 from 179 for a profit of £67.89. Today’s sole qualifier Always Busy was pulled up at Chepstow last month but the soft ground and big field wasn’t ideal, and it was good to see the 18-length third and 27-length fourth both win next time out (Ithaka, one of the other runners who was pulled up that day, was running a good race when falling four out at Wetherby on his next outing). The eight-year-old won off today’s handicap mark over course and distance last spring and the good ground is in his favour. I’ll also play him in a forecast with Fern Hill, runner-up in the Chepstow race mentioned above.
Kempton Racing Tips (Wednesday 1 April 2026)
Seven races take place at Kempton on Wednesday evening on the all-weather. Andrew’s best bet lines up in the 6.00pm contest.
6.00 Kempton – Havana Touch (1pt win – 7/2 bet365, 888sport, BetVictor, 100/30 generally)
Havana Touch looks very interesting now returned to Kempton, the scene of his top four racing Post Ratings. In-form John Butler’s five-year-old returned to form when a half-length 14-1 second over the extended mile at Wolverhampton last month and Rossa Ryan takes over in the saddle for the first time. The trainer/jockey have combined on four occasions in the past fortnight, with three winners (11-2, 5-2, 15-8) including two from two at Kempton. The son of Havana Grey looks nicely drawn in stall 2 and has been strong in the overnight betting.
