Southwell Racing Tips (Tuesday 2 June 2026)
There’s National Hunt racing at Southwell, with a 2.30pm start. Andrew opts for a selection in the opening contest, who lines up for Martin Keighley.
2.30 Southwell – Duke Of Luckley (1pt win – 18/1 bet365, 16/1 generally)
Martin Keighley’s Duke Of Luckley tends to reserve his best efforts for Catterick and Southwell with a combined record at the two venues of F11321111 (6-9) for a profit of £22.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. When rested for at least 150 days the nine-year-old is three from three under these conditions. He’s had 18 goes at other tracks, losing every time, and he’s worth a speculative interest now back at Southwell after pulling up at Worcester when we last saw him 223 days ago. The forecast rain is of some concern, though as long as it doesn’t become slower than genuinely good to soft, he should be ok. He’s got the second highest speed figure over fences in this five-runner handicap chase according to Proform’s ratings (Pep Talking is top) and he looks over-priced.
Pontefract Racing Tips (Tuesday 2 June 2026)
A six-race Flat card comes from Pontefract today, with Andrew opting for an eye-catching pick in the 4.18pm.
4.18 Pontefract – Rogue Temptation (1pt win – 7/1 bet365, 6/1 888sport, 11/2 generally)
Rogue Temptation could only finish in mid-division at Ascot last time, but she was sent off at 33-1and that 6f Class 4 handicap was run in a fast time and is already working out well. Fourth-placed Wedonttellies scored at Goodwood next time and is antepost favourite for the 3yo “Dash” at Epsom on Saturday, fifth-placed Dublin Bay bolted up by seven lengths in a Wolverhampton handicap while sixth home Red Snapper ran second from a poor draw on the turf at Lingfield. That trio all raced prominently in a race run to suit the closers and Rogue Temptation was also a little closer to the early pace than ideal from a moderate middle draw. Ed Bethell’s filly will appreciate today’s smaller field, won’t mind if the ground eases and will be happier back in fillies-only company – her three runs over 6f-6.5f in this grade have produce form figures of 123 (1-3).
