Andrew Mount continued his excellent tipping form with a second winner of the week on Tuesday. Our in-form tipster heads to Thirsk and Fairyhouse for his best bets on Wednesday 1 July.
Thirsk Racing Tips (Wednesday 1 July 2026)
Eight races take place at Thirsk on Wednesday, with a 1.08pm start. Andrew’s best bet on the card runs in the 3.10pm contest.
3.10 Thirsk – Simba’s Pride (1.5pt win – 4/1 generally)
After his 6f Ripon win on May 28 I suggested in my Racing and Football Outlook column that Simba’s Pride would benefit from a stiffer test of stamina, and his two subsequent runs have done nothing to dispel that theory. Michael Dods three-year-old fared second best of the late closers and best of the near side bunch when fifth of 13 (11-4 favourite) in a 5f handicap at York on June 12 and could never strike a blow when odds-on at Thirsk 15 days ago where he was again asked to race over the minimum trip. The return to 6f will help and, while I’d have preferred a stiffer track than this one, he look set to run a big race.
Fairyhouse Racing Tips (Wednesday 1 July 2026)
Seven races take place at Fairyhouse on Wednesday evening. Andrew has an eye-catching each-way selection in the 6.45pm event.
6.45 Fairyhouse – Casla’s Eagle (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 generally)
Casla’s Eagle, beaten by just over seven lengths into a 50-1 fourth of 12 in a Gowran Park maiden last time, did well to finish so close given the pace bias. Peter Fahey’s filly fared best of those to come from midfield or further back and she also ran with credit in her other two starts, finishing a 100-1 seventh of 15 at Gowran before a 22-1 seventh of 15 at Cork. She’s well drawn in stall 1 and looks a likely improver on her handicap debut.
