Thirsk Racing Tips (Thursday 16th July 2026)
Six races take place at Thirsk, with a 1.53pm start. Here are the best bets across the afternoon.
2.28 Thirsk – Sandy Craic (1pt win – 7/4)
Tim Easterby’s Hatamoto and David O’Meara’s Sandy Craic can fight it out for glory in the 2.28pm at Thirsk on Thursday. Both head into the 7f 218y contest in decent form, with the former having to deal with a 2lbs rise for a win last time out. That could sway it in the direction of Sandy Craic, who won off a mark of 69 two starts ago at Carlisle and followed that up with an excellent second at Beverley off 71. He runs off that same mark on Thursday and he could well just have enough to land the prize for connections.
3.03 Thirsk – Yellow Diamonds (1pt win – 7/1)
A juvenile winner when under the stewardship of Kevin Philippart De Foy, Yellow Diamonds has failed to taste more success in her career. Now trained by Julie Camacho, the daughter of Invincible Spirit looks attractively handicapped to go close in the 3.03pm at Thirsk. She’s put together a string of fourth placed finishes, but has now seen her mark drop significantly. She’s 2lbs lower for this contest, so if she can recapture her best form then she has to be capable of getting her head in front for a second time in her career.
Hamilton Racing Tips (Thursday 16th July 2026)
There are seven races at Hamilton, with the flat action beginning at 1.40pm. We have a brace of tips for the racing north of the border.
3.25 Hamilton – I’ll Be Back (1pt win – 10/11)
Karl Burke’s I’ll Be Back has a perfect record of two wins from two starts and the son of Lope De Vega can make it three on the bounce with victory in the 3.25pm at Hamilton. This is his toughest test to date, as he makes his handicap debut off a mark of 92. However, he was impressive when winning at Leicester last time out, and he has the potential to kick on from that. He will receive significant weight from the likes of English Oak and Rhoscolyn, who are both classy performers on their day. But, they may not be at the peak of their powers these days and Burke’s charge can prevail.
4.00 Hamilton – Kaleido (1pt win – 7/2)
Runner-up on his last two outings, Kaleido has been knocking on the door and the O’Meara-trained raider can get his head in front again in the 4.00pm. He will have the burden of top weight in this contest, but he’s shown that he’s more than capable of playing a notable role off a mark of 79, and it’s that figure he runs off again on Thursday. Inspired and Jannas Journey head into the contest in decent form, but Kaleido looks capable of downing that duo in a trappy betting heat.
