2.42 Uttoxeter – Lady Fortune (1.5pt win – 7/2 generally)
Lady Fortune has won two of her three starts since undergoing wind surgery, with the victories coming in a mares’ handicap hurdle at Market Rasen and an open handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter on July 15th when making her debut for Barry Brennan. The 10-1 chance had more than four lengths to spare over runner-up Golden Circet (3-1 favourite) that day and she clocked a fast time according to Proform’s speed ratings.
Since 2018, backing Class 5 jumps handicap winners who earned a Proform speed figure of 70 or higher would have found 174 winners from 535 bets (32.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £145.08 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 133.18, A/E = 1.31). Stella Lucente has improved since fitted with blinkers, finishing a 14-1 second at Wolverhampton where she made the running on the ‘dead’ rail before going one better in a fast time at Hamilton. Today’s track is ideal for her front-running style, and she’s well drawn in stall 2. Coolree (stall 1) is usually ridden from just off the pace and he looks vulnerable away from his beloved Beverley, scene of his four handicap successes.
