2.30 Wetherby – Unchartedterritory (0.5pt e/w – 12/1 bet365, 10/1 generally)
Unchartedterritory beat only one home after running green on his debut at Musselburgh last summer but showed plenty more on the back of a gelding operation when an 8-1 fourth of seven at Ayr in mid-September. The runner-up, third and fifth have scored since and the son of New Bay looks the each-way angle against the odds-on Haggas-trained favourite Princling. His sire is 12 from 50 with Flat turf runners on their second start since gelding for a profit of £37.50 to a £1 level stake at SP and the speed figure he clocked for that Ayr effort suggest he’ll be competitive today.
5.05 Wetherby – Glory Hyde (1pt e/w – 11/2 generally)
The presence of the hard-to-win-with True Promise as the 5-2 favourite makes this 5.5f handicap look very playable. Fionn McSharry’s five-year-old is without a win since November 2024, has never won on turf (0-8) and is 0-9 for his current yard. The best alternative could be Roger Fell’s Glory Hyde, who went into my tracker despite only finishing 11th of 17 in a 5f handicap at Doncaster on her latest start. The five-year-old raced on the unfavoured far side of the track after blowing the start that day and kept on well to finish in mid-division, doing second best of those drawn low. Today’s longer trip will help.
