Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Friday 29 May 2026)
Only six races take place at Wolverhampton on Friday evening. Andrew has two tips at the Midlands venue to send you into the weekend.
6.05 Wolverhampton – Jack Sparowe (1pt win = 7/2 bet365, 3/1 generally)
Jack Sparowe ran fourth in the Star Cast Newcastle race on May 1st that has worked out so well (the eighth from that 1m2f Class 5 handicap, Mao Shang Wong was a winner for this column on Wednesday) and he won very easily at Yarmouth in first-time blinkers on his next outing. John Butler’s veteran earned a sectionals upgrade for that performance and a 6lb rise might not prevent him from following up in this 1m4f amateur riders’ handicap. The step up from 1m2f to 1m4f won’t be an issue and the booking of Henry Callan is an obvious plus. Young Callan has ridden 14 winners from just 29 mounts since August 1st last year and backing him blind in that period would have returned a profit of £34.54 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected wins = 5.93, A/E = 2.36). Five of those were last time out winners, with four following up and the other running second.
8.25 Wolverhampton – Ancient State (1.5pt win – 100/30 bet365, 11/4 generally)
Ancient State clocked a very fast time for the grade when scoring at Southwell on his penultimate start and I’m inclined to forgive his subsequent narrow defeat when 8-15 favourite at Lingfield, as he missed the break and winner Spendmore Lane got first run. Today’s return to Tapeta will suit and he should encounter a strong pace to chase.
