18:00 – Get Raceday Ready Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap
Race Details: 1m 5f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This is not a deep Class 6 by any stretch, but it is the sort of amateur riders’ handicap where a small edge in stamina or attitude can be enough. Into Combat heads the market for the Prescott yard and is the obvious talking horse now dropped into basement company, while Zaraquelle arrives off a solid return effort and looks one of the more dependable options. Beaune has at least shown she can get her head in front, even if that winning form came elsewhere, and Three Yorkshiremen has slipped to a mark where he can be competitive again. Plenty of these are badly out of sorts, so this feels less like a strong race and more like a puzzle decided by who truly stays this 1m5f and who is still well treated.
Top Selections
1. Zaraquelle – 7/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Miss Ruby Criscuolo | Trainer: James Owen | Form: 5783-3 | Rating: 47 | Topspeed:
Zaraquelle makes plenty of appeal in a race where solid recent evidence is in short supply. Her latest third suggested she retains enough ability to take a race of this nature, and a mark of 47 does not look beyond her at all if she builds on that comeback. James Owen’s runners are often placed sensibly, and this looks a realistic opening. She is not bombproof, but few in here are, and at 7/2 she makes more appeal than some of the shorter-priced rivals because she brings current form and fewer questions than most. In a weak staying handicap, that counts for plenty. Bet type: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Three Yorkshiremen – 9/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Miss M Boucher | Trainer: Jack Jones | Form: 7-8995 | Rating: 53 | Topspeed: 39
Three Yorkshiremen is hardly an obvious win machine, but he has a bit more substance to his profile than several of these and his latest fifth was not devoid of promise. He is running off 53, the highest mark in the field, yet that is not enough to put me off because this is such a limited contest and his Topspeed figure of 39 is one of the better numbers on offer. Jack Jones also saddles Shopaholic, but this one looks the yard’s more interesting hand. At 9/2 he strikes me as the sensible each-way punt, especially if the race turns into the grind it could easily become over this trip. Bet type: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Zaraquelle is the win play because she brings the cleanest recent form and does not need to improve much to land this. Three Yorkshiremen is the each-way alternative in a race full of unreliable stayers and should give you a decent run for the money. The obvious danger is Into Combat, whose Prescott connections and class drop make him hard to ignore if the market has it right.

18:30 – Free Digital Racecard At raceday-ready.com Handicap
Race Details: 1m 1f | Class 5 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This is a proper Wolverhampton handicap puzzle rather than a race full of obvious answers. Several arrive in decent nick, with Bellasio, Kaaranah and Look Back Smiling all bringing solid recent form, while Pulsar Star and No Knee Never have the profile of horses capable of bouncing back quickly. The draw could play its part over this trip, especially with a few of the more interesting runners posted wide, and that makes life less straightforward for the likes of Kaaranah and Dark Rosa. Bellasio comes here off a win and still looks on the upgrade, whereas Look Back Smiling is the type to keep finding the frame in these middle-distance all-weather handicaps. Competitive stuff, but not the deepest Class 5 you will ever see.
Top Selections
1. Bellasio – 9/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Oliver Stammers | Trainer: Grant Tuer | Form: -65521 | Rating: 82 | Topspeed: 45
Bellasio makes most appeal after finally getting his head back in front last time, and the recent form figures suggest that effort was coming rather than arriving out of the blue. He is not burdened by a lofty mark, races here off 82, and stall 8 is perfectly workable if Oliver Stammers can get him switched off before delivering him late. What I like is that he looks a fairly uncomplicated progressive sort in a race where plenty have quirks or patchy profiles. At 9/2 with Bet365, he does not look overbet and there may still be a bit more to come at this trip. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Look Back Smiling – 7/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Alexandra Egan | Trainer: Neil Mulholland | Form: 69-043 | Rating: 83 | Topspeed: 66
Look Back Smiling looks the each-way value in a race where reliability counts for plenty. His latest third was a step back in the right direction, and that topspeed figure of 66 stacks up well enough against most of these. He is the sort who tends to run his race in this grade, and from stall 9 he should have options rather than being forced into one plan. Neil Mulholland’s runner does not need to improve dramatically to hit the frame again, and with four places on offer he makes plenty of sense as an each-way punt. The 7/1 with Bet365 feels fair in a race lacking standout quality. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Bellasio is the win play after arriving here with the most convincing recent profile and the look of a horse still going the right way. Look Back Smiling is the each-way option at a workable price, especially with four places available. The obvious dangers are No Knee Never from a handy draw and Kaaranah, who is in form but has a wider stall to overcome.

19:00 – Tips For Every Race At raceday-ready.com EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Bands C-D) (GBB)
Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This revolves around the newcomers versus the fillies who have already shown their hand, and it does not look the deepest restricted maiden on paper. Consultation would have brought solid placed form but is a non-runner, which leaves Jazzy Blue as the standout among those with experience after three fair efforts and a smart-looking rating of 87. The obvious fly in the ointment is Syndicale, a K R Burke debutante who has been installed at prohibitive odds and could simply be much better than this field. Behind the front pair, Musical Force and perhaps one of the Botti newcomers offer a bit of intrigue, while Pride’s Queen and Serenity Bay need to step forward. It is not an impossible puzzle, but the market leader demands plenty of respect.
Top Selections
1. Syndicale – 8/13 with Betfair
Jockey: Clifford Lee | Trainer: K R Burke | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
You always need to be a little careful taking cramped odds about a debutante, but Syndicale is hard to oppose in a race where the exposed form is useful rather than frightening. Burke knows exactly what is required with these 2yos and Clifford Lee is the go-to man when one is expected to know the job first time. Drawn in stall 1 over this 7f should do no harm if she breaks on terms, and the sheer strength of the market at around 8/13 suggests connections think she is well above average for this level. In an ordinary restricted maiden, she looks the one to beat. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Jazzy Blue – 6/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Paddy Bradley | Trainer: Charlie Fellowes | Form: 625 | Rating: 87 | Topspeed:
If you want to take on the hot favourite for a bit of each-way value, Jazzy Blue is the sensible alternative. She has the best established form in the race, having shaped with promise on all three starts, and that rating of 87 gives her a clear edge over the other runners with experience. The slight concern is whether she has already shown her ceiling, but this is not a deep contest and she sets a fair standard for the newcomers to match. Available at 6/1, she looks a perfectly fair each-way punt to hit the frame again and maybe do better if the favourite is not the finished article first time out. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Syndicale is the win play because Burke debutantes at this level are never easy to oppose and the market speaks loudly. Jazzy Blue is the each-way option in a field of 11, as she brings the strongest racecourse form and should give you a solid run for the money. Musical Force is the danger if improving sharply from her debut.

19:30 – Book To Stay – Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap (Div I)
Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This looks a fairly ordinary but quite competitive 3yo handicap, the sort where the right draw and a clean trip could make all the difference. Grand Vista heads the market after a solid third last time and is an obvious player, while Zoulette arrives off a win and clearly has momentum, even if stall 11 is no gift over this trip here. Torbados has the figures to get involved but has become a little hard to trust, and Athenian Spirit is one of the more interesting lower-weight runners from the inside draw. There are a few exposed sorts in the line-up, so it may not take much improvement to win it, but it is still a race where value matters more than blind faith in the favourite.
Top Selections
1. Grand Vista – 10/3 with Bet365
Jockey: Jason Hart | Trainer: William Muir & Chris Grassick | Form: 45-503 | Rating: 67 | Topspeed: 37
Grand Vista looks the percentage call in a race lacking much depth. His latest third suggested he is coming to the boil again, and that form line is enough to make him very hard to ignore in this grade. He is fairly drawn in 7, carries a workable 132lb and, crucially, does not need to find a chunk of improvement to take this. Jason Hart is the sort of booking that catches the eye in this company and, at 10/3, he makes more appeal than some of the other prominent runners who still have questions to answer. He holds strong claims if building on that latest effort.
Bet: WIN
2. Athenian Spirit – 8/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Pierre-Louis Jamin | Trainer: Georgina Nicholls | Form: -22303 | Rating: 68 | Topspeed: 63
Athenian Spirit looks the each-way value play from stall 1, and that inside berth could be a real asset if he breaks on terms and secures a handy position. He has been knocking on the door more than once this season, and his form figures suggest a horse who keeps running his race without quite getting his head in front. The topspeed figure of 63 is one of the better numbers on offer here, while 128lb leaves him nicely treated against several rivals above him in the weights. At 8/1, he makes plenty of appeal as an each-way punt in a race where consistency could count for plenty.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Grand Vista is the win bet after shaping like a horse ready to strike in this grade. For those playing each-way, Athenian Spirit makes obvious appeal from a good draw with solid enough figures to hit the frame. The main dangers look to be Zoulette, who arrives in winning form, and Torbados, who is capable if putting it all together.

20:00 – Book To Stay – Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap (Div II)
Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This looks a pretty ordinary Class 6 on paper, but it does have a solid enough core of in-form 3yo handicappers. Based sets the standard on ratings and was a winner two starts ago before failing to back it up last time, while Oh So Perfect arrives seeking the hat-trick and has the inside draw to make life awkward for the rest. Musical Soldier has been knocking loudly on the door and is another with obvious claims in a race where the front end of the market makes plenty of sense. Behind those, it gets much murkier, with Fullstop, Crown The Future and Electrocution the likelier types to pick up pieces. Not a deep race, then, but not a giveaway either, and track position over this 7f could prove decisive.
Top Selections
1. Oh So Perfect – 10/3 with Bet365
Jockey: Alistair Rawlinson | Trainer: Michael Appleby | Form: 7-3311 | Rating: 67 | Topspeed: 53
There is plenty to like about a filly arriving here on the back of two straight wins, and Oh So Perfect looks the percentage call. She has clearly turned a corner since moving into handicaps, the recent form figures reading far more like those of a progressive sort than a Class 6 plodder. Stall 1 is another obvious plus around Wolverhampton over this trip, and Appleby runners on the all-weather always command respect when they hit form. She is up against a couple with slightly higher ratings, but she gets in light enough and still looks open to more progress. At 10/3, she is not wildly overpriced, but she is the one I would want on side.
Bet: WIN
2. Electrocution – 12/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Joey Haynes | Trainer: Chelsea Banham | Form: 338946 | Rating: 66 | Topspeed: 57
This is the sort who makes a bit more each-way appeal than his recent finishing positions might suggest. Electrocution has the best Topspeed figure in the field on 57, is nicely berthed in stall 2, and drops into a race lacking much depth beyond the obvious trio at the head of the market. He has been beaten often enough, so there is no pretending he is bombproof, but this mark of 66 looks workable and a return to a sharper 7f on Tapeta could suit better than some of his latest assignments. At 12/1, he is the one at a bigger price who could easily outrun market expectations and nick a place.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Oh So Perfect is the win play, with the recent double and ideal draw making her the most solid option in a modest race. For an each-way punt, Electrocution looks the value at 12/1 given his speed figure and low berth. The obvious dangers are Based, who is still the class act on ratings, and Musical Soldier, whose consistency gives him strong place claims again.

20:30 – Download The Racecourse App Raceday Ready Maiden Handicap
Race Details: 1m | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This is not a deep maiden handicap by any means, but it does look competitive enough for the grade. Blue Celestial brings the most persuasive all-weather profile and his Topspeed figure of 62 stands out in this field, while Positive Thoughts arrives on the back of a more encouraging effort and has the highest mark in the line-up. Ocean Force is consistent without looking obviously ahead of the assessor, and Case Study is one of the more interesting lurkers if forgiven a poor latest run. With plenty of these either exposed or still trying to convince at the trip, it may come down to which of the 3yos can find a bit more improvement on Tapeta. Tricky enough from a betting angle, but not impossible to narrow down.
Top Selections
1. Blue Celestial – 7/2 with Betfair
Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa | Trainer: James Tate | Form: 732436 | Rating: 66 | Topspeed: 62
Blue Celestial is hardly bombproof, but he sets the standard on the numbers and this looks a very workable race for him. He has been running respectably in defeat, his mark has not got away from him, and that Topspeed figure of 62 is comfortably the best on offer here. Drawn in stall 3, he should be able to get a handy position, and James Tate’s runners around here are always worth respecting in these low-grade all-weather events. Silvestre De Sousa is an eye-catching booking too, and in a race lacking depth, a repeat of his better efforts would make him hard to keep out of the finish. At around 7/2, he makes most appeal.
Bet: WIN
2. Starborn – 9/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Cieren Fallon | Trainer: Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole | Form: 9-87 | Rating: 59 | Topspeed: 41
Starborn is the each-way play because there is room for him to do better now tackling handicap company from a basement sort of mark. His three runs in novice company were modest on the face of it, but not devoid of promise, and stall 1 could be a real asset if Cieren Fallon can get him travelling on the rail. He receives weight from the principals, remains unexposed compared to several of these, and the market is not exactly dismissive at 9/1. In a weak Class 6 maiden handicap, that profile is often enough to tempt me in. He does not need to improve dramatically to get involved.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Blue Celestial is the percentage call and looks the solid win bet in a race where the standard is modest. Starborn is the one to play each-way, with his low mark and scope for improvement making him more interesting than plenty of exposed rivals. Positive Thoughts is the obvious danger after his latest placed effort, while Ocean Force is another with place claims if the race turns tactical.

Race Details: 6f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Tapeta) | | flat
This is a busy little Class 6 sprint and, for all the modest grade, it is not short on angles. Massimo Blue heads the market after a string of respectable efforts and he sets a fair standard on recent form, but he is hardly bombproof in a 13-runner dash around Wolverhampton. Master Dandy shaped better than the bare result when third last time and looks well capable of getting involved again, while Auntie Jo arrives in decent nick and has a handy draw to work from. Federal Envoy and Watermelon Sugar are others with bits of form that give them a squeak, but neither comes without a question. It looks a tricky puzzle rather than a strong race, and getting the pace and track position right may prove decisive.
Top Selections
1. Massimo Blue – 9/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Jack Callan | Trainer: George Baker | Form: 49-553 | Rating: 76 | Topspeed: 69
Massimo Blue is the percentage call. He has been knocking on the door without quite landing the blow, but those recent 5-5-3 figures suggest he is holding his form well and his mark of 76 is workable in a race of this nature. The Topspeed figure of 69 is right up there for this field and, unlike plenty of these, he does not need to suddenly find a chunk of improvement to win. Draw 8 is fine if Jack Callan can get him into a rhythm early, and at 9/4 he is not a gift, but he is still the one with the most solid claims. Bet: WIN

2. Master Dandy – 8/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Cieren Fallon | Trainer: Michael Keady | Form: 218703 | Rating: 76 | Topspeed: 69
Master Dandy makes plenty of each-way appeal at the prices. His record is patchy enough to keep him honest in the market, but that latest third was a step back in the right direction and it came off the same mark he runs from here. He shares the best Topspeed figure in the line-up with the favourite, and having Cieren Fallon booked is no bad thing in a race where timing matters. Stall 10 is not ideal, but he is the type to travel into it if things drop right, and 8/1 looks fair for a horse with form that stacks up well in this grade. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy
Massimo Blue is the sensible win play given his consistency and the strength of his recent figures. For an each-way punt, Master Dandy looks the value at 8/1 with four places on offer. Auntie Jo is the danger from a good draw, while Federal Envoy is another who could outrun his price if getting the splits at the right time.
