York Racing Tips (Friday 10 July 2026)
Seven races take place at York on Friday, with a 2.10pm start. It’s that opening race where Andrew heads to with an each-way play.
2.10 York – Yanifer (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 generally)
Yanifer would have needed last month’s comeback run when a 25-1 front-running 12th of 19 over this course and distance and can be supported to take a step forward this afternoon. Harriet Bethell’s veteran does well from June onwards when returned to the track within four weeks of his latest start, scoring eight times from 20 runs under such conditions for a profit of £26.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. Four of those runs came at York resulting in a win, two runner-up efforts, 14-1 and 10-1, and a 17-2 seventh of 17 when beaten by less than three lengths after doing too much too soon.
Chester Racing Tips (Friday 10 July 2026)
Chester have a seven-race card beginning at 5.15pm. Andrew is following his namesake Andrew Balding with a 2pt selection in the 7.00pm.
7.00 Chester – Zgharta (2pt win – 5/1 bet365)
Zgharta has finished sixth of nine (100-30 favourite) and 12th of 24 in her two runs this term but has run much better than her finishing position suggested on each occasion. Andrew Balding’s four-year-old was ridden patiently, well away from the favoured rail, when all the action was with the stands’ side prominent racers in a 1m fillies’ handicap at Ascot and stall 6 of 24 was zero help when mid-division in the Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. The poorly drawn 11th from that race – Crystal Flyer (stall 2) – ran second by a neck when 66-1 for a Listed race at Pontefract the other day to give the form a timely boost. The step back up to 1m2f will suit and her trainer does well here.
