York Racing Tips (Thursday 14 May 2026)

At the second day of York’s Dante meeting, Andrew has a tip in handicap company for you to follow.

2.55 York – Godwinson (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 bet365, 20/1 generally)

Godwinson had a good record on his seasonal debuts when trained by William Haggas, finishing a 9-1 third of 15 on his racecourse debut at Nottingham in June 2023 when running green on unsuitably fast ground, going down by just half a length after a slow start in the 2024 Spring Cup at Newbury on his handicap debut and, last term, landing the Lincoln by a nose. He returned from a three-month break to add a Newcastle win in late June before his form tailed off. The lightly-raced six-year-old has joined Jack Channon (remains in the same ownership) and his new trainer does well with runners returning from a break of at least 150 days, scoring with 23 of the 98 qualifiers for a profit of £74.46 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 13.12, A/E = 1.75). Any rain will improve his chances.

Salisbury Racing Tips (Thursday 14 May 2026)

Andrew has found an angle which could find a winner at a significant price in novice company at Salisbury.

4.28 Salisbury – Sullom Voe (0.5pt e/w – 33/1 Paddy Power, 28/1 Sky Bet, 20/1 bet365)

Progeny of the sire New Bay have a respectable record on their racecourse debuts, landing 32 of their 309 starts (10.4% strike-rate) but backing them blind would have returned a loss of £106.35 to a £1 level stake at SP. Eight of those were trained by David Menusier and they recorded form figures of 95358398 (0-8). The sire’s progeny do exceptionally well at the second time of asking, landing 57 of their 279 starts (20.4%) for a profit of £101.78 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£359.78 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). The expected number of winners was 46.32 (A/E = 1.23). Seven of those were trained by Menusier, recording form figures of 1131210 (4-7) with the ‘duck egg’ at 150-1. Today, Sullom Voe bids to enhance those figures and she’s sure to improve for her 80-1 Sandown eighth to Felicitas (just denied at York yesterday) where she clocked a respectable time.

16:28 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race)
