5.35 Lingfield – COVERT MISSION (1pt win – 7/2 Bet365, 11/4 generally)

Those who challenged late/wide had the best of things at Lingfield’s meeting on April 3rd and COVERT MISSION did well to win from the front in the 1m Class 5 Handicap. He was steered away from the ‘dead’ inside rail in the straight by Benoit De La Sayette but it was still a huge effort. The five-year-old has drawn a blank in his 11 turf starts but is five from 15 on the all-weather, including form figures on Polytrack of 845121151481 (5-12). He looks the sole pace over the same course and distance today and can follow up.

5.55 Tipperary – HEYJOE DE KERSEN (1pt win – 8/1 generally)

The Paul Nolan-trained HEYJOE DE KERSER was a big eyecatcher at in January where he finished third in a 3m maiden hurdle. Perhaps he didn’t face the first-time cheekpieces, though the more cynical among us might suggest that he was ridden with an eye to the future. He lines up in his first handicap today and the headgear is left off.
